8 Dump Truck Drivers Detained After Fight in Ho Chi Minh City

Police in Thuong Tan Commune, Ho Chi Minh City, are holding nine people for investigation into alleged public disorder. Ho Chi Minh detective agency, eight of them are dump truck drivers.

The incident happened at around 10 a.m. on September 12 at Tan My stone yard in My Loc Hamlet, Thuong Tan Commune.

The dispute reportedly began when drivers were waiting to enter the yard to collect stone.

Nguyen Thanh Tung drove to the yard to pick up stone. Nguyen Tan Phuc allegedly drove his truck ahead of Tung in the queue. The two sides began arguing.

Tung then arrived with Do Cong Hau, Nguyen Thanh Luc and Nguyen Thanh Dat to confront Phuc. The argument soon turned into a physical fight.

During the fight, Phuc and Nguyen Xuan Son took metal pipes from a truck cabin and chased Tung. Nguyen Tan Tai reportedly grabbed a knife and chased Luc. However, neither side managed to hit the other.

Local residents intervened and stopped the fight, Ho Chi Minh detective agency.

Later, Nguyen Thanh Dat, 25, brought a knife to the stone yard. Dat is Tung’s neighbor and had heard that Tung had been attacked.

At the same time, Le Minh Hai went to the yard after hearing that Phuc had been attacked. Another confrontation then broke out.

Police in Thuong Tan Commune arrived after receiving the report. The people involved were taken to the police station for questioning.

Police later determined that eight of those detained were dump truck drivers. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident and determine the role of each person involved.
