Iranian man pretends to buy goods to steal money in HCM city

Hesmati Norouz, 43 years old, Iranian nationality, entered a badminton shop in Ho Chi Minh City to buy goods and gave 100 USD. Then, he snatched the employee’s stack of money and took 20 million VND.

Hesmati Norouz was detained by District 11 Police, Ho Chi Minh City to investigate the act of Theft of property.

On the evening of February 2, 2025, Hesmati Norouz entered a badminton shop on Lac Long Quan Street, Ward 5, District 11, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

This person spoke to the 23-year-old female employee in English, wanting to buy a racket for 1.3 million VND.

This person gave 100 USD, asking for the change in VND. When the female employee picked up the money, he grabbed it, mixed it up, and then gave it back to the sales person.

He left without buying anything, making the female employee suspicious. When she checked the stack of money again, she discovered that 20 million VND was missing.

District 11 Police in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Criminal Police Department searched for the suspect.

Police raided an apartment in Ward 2, Tan Binh District, arrested Hesmati Norouz, recovered the money and returned it to the victim.
