Ho Chi Minh city police have dismantled a large-scale counterfeit operation and arrested the directors of Anh Thu cosmetics manufacturing and trading Co., Ltd. for producing over 70,000 bottles of fake medicated oil bearing a famous Singaporean brand.
The suspects, Nguyen Ngoc Tai and his wife Tran Thi Ngoc Anh, both residing in district 12, were found running an illicit production facility in Ho Chi Minh city.
Investigators discovered that they were manufacturing counterfeit versions of the Eagle Brand medicated oil, a popular product imported from Singapore.
During a raid, police seized nearly 30,000 finished bottles and around 40,000 unlabeled ones, along with thousands of caps, labels, packaging, and raw materials used in the production process.
According to authorities, the couple had been purchasing unregulated ingredients from the market, then mixing, bottling, and labeling them with a well-known brand name to sell at high prices.
This posed serious health risks to consumers and harmed the reputation of the legitimate brand.
The case is under further investigation to identify additional individuals involved and to trace the distribution of the counterfeit goods.
