While committing a theft in Tan Nhuan Dong commune, a thief was caught by local residents.
During the struggle, he dropped a firearm, four bullets, and a cartridge case, Ho Chi Minh detective service.
On October 2, the Dong Thap provincial police announced that the Security investigation agency had prosecuted and detained Nguyen Thanh Tai born in 1997, residing in Sa Dec ward on charges of illegal possession of military weapons.
During a search of Tai’s residence, investigators seized:
- A revolver
- An electric gun
- Two pepper spray canisters
- Eight bullets
- A small tube sealed at both ends containing a white powdery substance, suspected to be narcotics
According to the initial investigation, on June 30, Tai went to Tan Nhuan Dong commune to steal property.
When he was discovered and restrained by local residents, he dropped the firearm, four bullets, and one cartridge case.
These items were later collected and handed over to the police by the people.
Forensic examination confirmed that the firearm and ammunition were classified as military weapons. Authorities are continuing to clarify and handle the case in accordance with the law.
