Director of petroleum company in Saigon arrested

Information from authorities in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Nguyen The Hung, Director of Phuc Tho Petroleum Company, Ho Chi Minh City, is accused of directing the captain and staff of the ships to break lead seals and steal oil.

Hung; Tho, 39 years old, Au, 43 years old were detained by the Ho Chi Minh City Police for the act of stealing property under Article 173 of the Penal Code.

According to the investigation, on February 22, Tho, Au and Thai Thanh Truc controlled the barge of Phuc Tho Company to receive oil at Nha Be Petroleum Depot.

This amount of oil is a leased cargo for Ba Ria – Vung Tau Petroleum Company Limited.

A total of 110 tons of DO oil were stored by these people in the two holds of the barge.

Hung directed Tho to break the lead seal of customs supervision, pump all 80 tons of oil in a barge’s bunker and transfer it to another barge.

This oil continued to be transported to another vehicle a few days later, when it was discovered by the customs force.

The investigating agency determined that the value of the stolen oil lot was 1.5 billion VND.
